My original watercolor of The Palace Bar in Temple Bar, Dublin.

The Palace Bar, founded in 1823, is a storied Dublin pub with deep roots in the worlds of literature, journalism, and sport. A classic Victorian-era gem, it became a favorite haunt of The Irish Times staff, who often used the snug and back room to write articles and meet sources. Over the years, it’s also welcomed literary greats like Patrick Kavanagh, Seamus Heaney, and Flann O'Brien—earning it the nickname "the most wonderful temple of art."
